Advisory - California Insurance Commissioner joins global partners to share new financial risk tool
SACRAMENTO, Calif. —Commissioner Dave Jones will participate in a webinar with the Principles for Responsible Investment and 2 Degrees Investing Initiative to demonstrate the new Paris Agreement Capital Transition Assessment (PACTA) tool. The PACTA tool calculates investors’ climate related risk across different sectors and offers a way to compare investor exposure level under the carbon goals of the Paris Agreement.
The department engaged with 2 Degrees Investing Initiative earlier this year to perform a forward looking scenario analysis of insurer investments, with particular concern on thermal coal investments which remain a serious long-term risk despite recent short-term fluctuations.
