The Policy and Planning Branch includes the: Special Projects Division, Policy Research Division, and Statistical Analysis Division.
The Special Projects Divison (SPD) supports the Commissioner's Executive Team in analyzing emerging insurance issues with policy implications. SPD also helps implement appropriate Commissioner-directed policy initiatives by assisting regulations projects navigate the requirements of the Administrative Procedure Act. The Policy Research Division and Statistical Analysis Division conduct data calls mandated by statute and regulation and at the direction of the Executive Team, and pursue research on targeted questions. These units identify and measure trends in the industry in order to support the Commissioner's decision-making process. By coordinating resources and integrating policy development, planning, and research, the Policy and Planning Branch addresses significant problems faced by consumer, industry, and their respective stakeholders.
