Agents & Brokers Overview

Attention California Producers: The National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) has identified an active phishing email campaign targeting producers, and asked the California Department of Insurance to share NIPR’s phishing information webpage. Please thoroughly review NIPR’s Security Notice provided in their link. NIPR provided the following:

  • The fraudulent emails reference past due invoices and may appear to originate from familiar or trusted domains, including @nipr.com, @naic.org, or @stripe. These messages are fraudulent and were not sent from an official NIPR email address or account.

  • If a producer receives an invoice email claiming to be from NIPR that was not expected, please stop immediately and take no action.

  • Producers are not to open attachments, click links, or submit payment in response to suspicious or unexpected invoice emails.

  • If there is any doubt about the legitimacy of an invoice or email a producer received, please contact niprbillingdept@nipr.com before responding or taking further action.

To protect insurance consumers and maintain the integrity of the insurance industry by assisting with the implementation and enforcement of laws relating to the qualifications and licensing requirements for persons and organizations conducting insurance business in this state.
